How do I find books on Reserves?
How do I know what material for my class is on Reserves and how do I check them out?
Answer
Here's how to find and check out Reserves materials:
- Go to the Reserves section of the Library Catalog
- In the Search Bar near the top of the page, enter either the title of the book or article you are looking for, or the author's name, last name first.
- If you don't know either, just search the course number of the class itself. Make sure you put a space between the discipline (ENGL) and the course number (001), however (ex. ENGL 001). You will get a listing of what your instructor has put on Reserves as a whole that way.
- Find the item you are looking for and copy the call number (for books) on a piece of paper (or take a picture of it) and show this to the staff member at the Circulation Desk; staff will not retrieve materials without receiving a call number.
- For e-books or e-readings of any sort, if you are working remotely, make sure you have the campus VPN turned on on your computer first before clicking the link in the Available Online section of the record.
Note: Physical materials in Reserves are checked out to patrons in 2 hour blocks; patrons checking out Reserve materials must return them to the Circulation Desk within that two hour timeframe or risk a significant fine.
